Overview
Wildflower Co.’s BNG Training Days give you a practical introduction to Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) policy, how it works and how wildflower solutions can help you meet and maintain net gain on your projects. The day combines expert presentations, case studies, a site tour and practical guidance on implementation and long-term success.
The global decline in biodiversity necessitates innovative solutions. BNG emerges as a promising policy tool, requiring developers to demonstrate a 10% minimum net gain in habitat units compared to pre-development conditions, leaving biodiversity in a better state than before the development took place. Measured using DEFRA’s biodiversity metric, habitats will need to be maintained and secured for at least 30 years. Wildflowers offer a fantastic solution to achieving BNG requirements. With the UK having lost 97% of its wildflower meadows since the 1930s, restoring these vibrant, beautiful habitats is a crucial step toward achieving biodiversity net gain.
This day will provide you with an overview of BNG, including the metric criteria, how wildflower products can help achieve net gain, and how to implement & maintain them for that all-important long-term success.
We will have industry expert guest speakers, a worked case study to demonstrate the benefits of species rich grassland for a BNG project, and a site tour including examples of best-practice wildflower habitats as well as machinery demonstrations and practical maintenance advice.
